Guru Rinpoche, the Tantric Budha of Tibet, Chenresig, the deity of compassion, Tara, the famale bodhisattva, and Manjushri representing knowledge, are four of the most important Tibetan archetypes. Devotional practice with visualization and mantra is used to awaken one's inherent Buddha nature. The image is a reminder, an aid to meditation.
We have also added Maitreya, the future Buddha, Milarepa, the great yogi and poet, Ganesh and Dzamballa, both connected with enhancing prosperity, and Kuan Yin, the Chinese deity of compassion.
These statues are handmade in Nepal by skilled craftsmen trained in family lineages. Each image is made from a wax model which melts during the copper casting process. The 'lost wax' method results in enhanced detail, life expression and refined finish. Gold powder is used to paint the face and the ornaments are usually gold plated.
